Vino & van Gogh Night (ages 21 and up)
This
cultural night is just for the
grown-ups... Bring some friends, or come
to meet new ones, and get ready to release
the inner artist in you. The evening is
hosted by an experienced artist/instructor
who will ensure a fun and comfortable
experience for those at all levels of
artistic ability. Each night will have a
different art focus--classical or
contemporary, you're sure to learn
something new. Drawing and painting
materials will be provided as well as wine
and light hors d'oeuvres. Whether it's
just you and your beau or a group of close
friends, this is the perfect,
well-deserved night out.

AUGUST: Watercolor Greeting Cards

Learn to embrace the delicate nature of
watercolor and create a set of six
beautiful greeting cards. Students
will learn a variety of transparent
watercolor techniques with master artist,
Lynnea Washburn, as she demonstrates ideas
such as "wet in wet", "drop-in" and
"glazing".
 JULY:
Fused Glass
Learn the
fundamentals of glass fusing while
creating one of several project choices
including glass tiles, a glass plate or a
large glass leaf for your garden.

JUNE: Hand-Made Jewelry
Learn to make extraordinary
jewelry in this fun workshop with local
jewelry designer and art docent, Donna
Gelinas. Students will learn techniques
for bead stringing, creating a clasp and
finishing the piece. The instructor will
assist with color and design elements and
provide an abundance of inspiration along
the way. The class fee covers everything
you need to create an original,
one-of-a-kind bracelet and earring set as
well as all the techniques to create many
more in the future. Tools will be provided
for use in class. Additional beads, tools,
and findings will be available for
purchase after the workshop.
MAY: Terracotta Relief Tile
Starting
with an 8” x8” slab of terracotta clay,
ceramic artist Karen Abel will show you
how to carve, mold, pinch and impress your
way to the creation of a beautiful relief
tile to use as a garden plaque or indoor
decoration. The surprisingly easy,
immensely satisfying process works equally
well for realistic organic designs or
stylized geometric ones. Numerous ideas
and designs will be available or bring
your own ideas. Your finished tile will
be dried, fired, glazed and ready in 2-3
weeks.
MARCH: Fused Glass Leaves
Create a beautiful garden ornament and
learn the fundamentals of glass fusing!
Join local ceramic & glass artists, Karen
Abel at the next Vino & van Gogh Night.
You'll learn the fundamentals of glass
fusing including choosing, cutting and
arranging glass elements. You'll work
with transparent, opaque and iridescent
glass as well as glass frit, stringers and
rods. Your masterpieces will be stunning
displayed "as is" or can be further
embellished with your own wire and beads.
JANUARY: Printmaking / Painting, Andy Warhol
Style
Participants will use simple images and
product labels from the 50’s to create
bright canvases reminiscent of Andy
Warhol’s prints. After students have made
their selections they will transfer the
images to the canvases divided into six
equal panels. Then using bright neon
colors everyone will paint the duplicate
images and backgrounds to create a fun and
interesting piece for any home.
DECEMBER:
Introduction to Jewelry-Making

This is the perfect way for
beginners to learn the basics of how to
design and construct your own jewelry
pieces.

Museo’s own instructor Rebecca Reed
will give technical and creative direction
so you have step-by-step instructions.
·
We will provide a choice of beads,
and will introduce the fundamentals of
design and pattern, so you can create
jewelry like a pro.
·
We will discuss tools, beads and
finishing techniques.
·
The additional fee will be
determined by your choices of materials
(minimum $10).
·
If you already have beads or
pendants you would like to incorporate
into your design, or just use as
inspiration, feel free to bring them.
